We always seek comfort in places of the past. Physical and emotional. At the end of a long day, we return home
expecting to achieve all of those needs. But reality is a little different, the ground is rough, the air is thick, the noise
unbearable and silence feels impossible. In the place of comfort, we find prison. When you realize you live in a
cage, all you want is to escape.
It’s like waking up and everything is a blur.
Walking is like floating.
To feel is to fear.
Control is no longer yours.
Look inside yourself and can’t see.
The expectation, the dread and the despair.
Face it or run away?.
I only hear horrors and I see the worst.
Delay. It hurts. I can not.
Then the relief. I wake.
I verify. I calm down.
It’s all right.
I think of what the next one will look like.
Patricia Montrase, born in São Paulo, worked with advertising for 10 years. She discovered her vocation for photography and graduated at the New York Film Academy in New York.
Patricia’s imagination is informed by her captivation with books, nature and mysticism. Her photographic works draw influence from the aesthetics of Pictorial and Romantic image traditions. The results are photographic works that are moody, and atmospheric – images that transport the viewer to another time and place.
